Linux
+ passed! College degree completed!
Yeah me! Passed the LXO-101 and LXO-102 Comptia
Linux exams and I am now Linux + certified. These exams also qualified me for
the LPIC-1 and Novell CSA certification. Not bad, 3 certs for the price of 1.
I submitted my test results to school and with the passing
of these tests, I have completed the requirements for my Bachelor of Science in
Information Technology degree! It took me 3 ½ years but it was worth to achieve
a goal I have always had.
WGU gives you two opportunity’s to walk, once in the
summer in Utah and Atlanta in February. If I hadn’t gotten waylaid by the Java
courses I could have walked in Utah in July. Everything happens for a reason
and walking in Atlanta to get my degree will allow me to see my sisters and
stepmom who live up there.
I am still toying with the idea of pursuing a Master’s
degree in security and assurance, which would also get me a couple more certs,
but not quite sure if I want to get back into that routine of studying in the evenings
and weekends again. Another negative is
that I don’t get to keep my same student mentor MS Kristen. She has been a
solid guiding force and I am proud to consider her a friend. I will continue to
gather more certifications as they will allow me to continue my education
without the long term obligation of another degree. I just recently completed my Six Sigma White
Belt certification. I am looking at the VCP (Virtualization cert) or possibly the
Comptia Server + certification.
I will continue to post other things that are
happening in my life, or thoughts that I feel like writing about. Right now, I
am enjoying having my evenings free and catching up on my book reading.
For all of you reading about my journey, I wish you
all the best in everything you do.
Until my next post, be well and do good things.
Stephen
